There are two ways to configure your iPhone or iPad Mail application to sync to your IAS email account—using an ActiveSync connection or using a standard IMAP connection. In addition to puling your IAS email, an ActiveSync connection also pulls in your IAS calendar and contacts. When configuring your device to use an IMAP connection, you will only be able to sync your email messages. These instructions configure the iPhone Mail application to use a standard IMAP connection for mail transfer. Instructions for configuring the Mail application to use ActiveSync are also available.
Press the Home button to access the Home screen. Tap the Settings icon. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap Add Account. Tap Add Mail Account. Enter the following values for your new account:. Name: your full name and as you would like it to appear on outgoing messages.
Address: your IAS email address. Password: your IAS password. Description: label this account IAS. Tap Next in the upper-right corner of the screen.
In the next screen, IMAP should be selected by default. Scroll down and enter the following values for your Incoming Mail Server:. Host Name: mail.itg.ias.edu.
User Name: your IAS username. Password: this field is pre-populated with your IAS password from step 7. Scroll down and enter the following values for your Outgoing Mail Server:. Host Name: smtpauth.ias.edu.
User Name: your IAS username. Password: your IAS password. Tap Next. When Mail has finished verifying your account settings, tap Save. You will return to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars configuration screen. Tap on your new account. Tap Account Info.
Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server and tap SMTP. Tap the entry for smtpauth.ias.edu and verify the following settings:. Use SSL: ON. Server Port: 587.
Tap Done. Tap Account Info. Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server and tap Advanced. Scroll down and verify the following Incoming Settings:. Use SSL: ON.
Authentication: Password. Server Port: 993. Tap Account Info. When finished, press the Home button and tap the Mail icon to test your settings.
